INDICATIONS
Procardia is used for treating some kinds of angina (chest pain). Procardia is a calcium channel blocking agent. It works by interfering with the traditional action of calcium in blood vessel constriction (relaxes the bloodstream) and heart muscle contraction (heart may beat with less force and pump out less blood) and nerve conduction inside the heart (heart may beat less quickly plus much more regularly). Calcium channel blockers are widely-used to dilate (widen) the arteries from the heart as well as other arteries (reduce angina chest pain minimizing elevated blood pressure), and stabilize the guts rhythm in conditions in which the heart is beating too fast or even in an irregular rhythm (antiarrhythmic effects).
