INDICATIONS
Imdur (isosorbide mononitrate) is within several drugs called nitrates. It dilates (widens) arteries, making it easier for blood to circulate through them and much easier for your heart to pump.
INSTRUCTIONS
Take Imdur just as prescribed because of your doctor.
Take medicines with no less than 4 ounces of water or another liquid. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet. Swallow the pill whole.
If possible, try and rest or stay seated usually when you use prescription drugs. Imdur could cause dizziness or fainting. Use Imdur regularly to avoid an angina attack.
Do not stop taking Imdur suddenly. Stopping suddenly may cause an extreme angina attack.
DOSAGE
The usual adult dose of Imdur is 30-60 mg orally once daily. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions very carefully.
STORAGE
Store this medicine at room temperature far from moisture, heat, and lightweight. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
Call a medical expert at the same time if you have a significant side effect including:
fast, slow, pounding, or uneven heartrate;
feeling as you might pass out;
trouble breathing, blue-colored skin, tired feeling; or
worsening angina pain.
Less serious Imdur unwanted effects might include:
headache, mild dizziness;
warmth, redness, or tingling under your skin;
nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea;
pain or stiffness in joints or muscles;
hot flashes; or
dry mouth.
Do not use Imdur should you be taking sildenafil (Viagra, Revatio). A dangerous drug interaction could occur, resulting in serious negative effects. You should not use Imdur in case you are allergic to isosorbide mononitrate, isosorbide dinitrate, (Isordil, Dilatrate, Isochron), or nitroglycerin, or for those who have early warning signs of cardiac arrest (chest pain or heavy feeling, pain spreading towards the arm or shoulder, nausea, sweating, general ill feeling).
To ensure you can safely take Imdur, tell your physician for those who have any of these other difficulties:
congestive heart failure;
low blood pressure level; or
kidney disease.
Tell your medical professional about other medications you utilize, especially:
blood pressure level medication;
dihydroergotamine (D.H.E. 45, Migranal) or ergotamine (Ergomar, Cafergot, while others);
an impotence problems medication including tadalafil (Cialis) or vardenafil (Levitra);
a beta blocker such as atenolol (Tenormin, Tenoretic), carvedilol (Coreg), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), metoprolol (Dutoprol, Lopressor, Toprol), nadolol (Corgard), propranolol (Inderal, InnoPran), sotalol (Betapace), among others;
heart or blood pressure level medicine for example amlodipine (Norvasc, Caduet, Exforge, Lotrel, Tekamlo, Tribenzor, Twynsta, Amturnide), diltiazem (Cartia, Cardizem), nifedipine (Nifedical, Procardia), verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin, Verelan), and others.
It isn't known whether Imdur will harm an baby. Tell your doctor should you be pregnant or want to become pregnant while using the medicines. It just isn't known whether isosorbide mononitrate passes into breast milk or if it may harm a nursing baby. Do not use Imdur without telling your medical professional should you be breast-feeding a child.
